“Your Favorite Toy” is the newest single by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Foo Fighters for their upcoming album of the same name. Foo Fighters released their last album, “But Here We Are,” released in June 2023 to excellent reviews and praise from fans and critics.
Foo Fighters is a band that formed in 1995 by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl after the death of Nirvana’s lead singer, Kurt Cobain. Foo Fighters have 11 albums and one on the way.
Last year, the band released “Asking For A Friend,” a single that hinted at what was to come off things to come for the band. Their newest album, “Your Favorite Toy,” was announced alongside the release of the song of the same name in February 2026.
“Your Favorite Toy” starts with a bouncing rhythm that remains prominent throughout the track, driven by guitars, drums and a bass groove. Grohl enters with snarling, reverb-heavy vocals, with his daughter Harper providing backup.
“Your Favorite Toy” is the second single to feature their new drummer, Ilan Rubin, who has been in bands such as Nine Inch Nails and Paramore. Rubin was brought on after the departure of their previous drummer, Josh Freese.
The song’s lyrics portray events that quickly go wrong, with lines such as “But it ain’t getting clearer” and “Can’t keep my glasses clean.” The chorus tells a boy to get back, saying someone has “threw away your favorite toy for good.”
The bridge questions whether the pressure is strong enough and whether the reward is enough to truly know. The ending chorus continues to tell the boy that someone threw away his favorite toy for good.
The song is very interesting and weird, but I found it enjoyable and full of the Foo Fighters’ charm. It is an earworm at heart, and if anyone is looking for a new tune to get stuck in their head, I totally recommend “Your Favorite Toy.”
