About The Tiger’s Eye

Tiger Eye Mission Statement
At The Tiger Eye, our mission is to inform, represent, and inspire the Fremont High School community through ethical, impactful, and student-centered journalism.
As student journalists, we are dedicated to truth-telling, transparency, and thoughtful storytelling that reflects the diverse voices and experiences of our peers. Guided by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Code of Ethics, we strive to:
-
Seek truth and report it with accuracy, fairness, and courage.
-
Minimize harm by treating sources, subjects, and our audience with respect and compassion.
-
Act independently, free from outside influence or self-interest.
-
Be accountable and transparent, owning our work and correcting mistakes.
Through in-depth reporting, creative multimedia, and a passion for civic engagement, The Tiger Eye aims to foster critical thinking, amplify student voices, and serve as a reliable, empowering platform for news and dialogue at FHS.
Our Commitment
The Tiger Eye is more than a newspaper — it’s a student-driven space for storytelling, exploration, and truth. We are committed to developing our craft as reporters, photographers, editors, and designers while upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity.
We strive to deliver accurate, fair, and meaningful coverage of the issues that matter to the Fremont High School community. Through a wide range of voices, experiences, and formats, we highlight the people and moments that define FHS. Our work is fueled by curiosity, respect, and a belief in the power of student expression.
Editorial Policy – The Tiger Eye
The Tiger Eye is a student-run publication of the Fremont High School Journalism Department and serves as an open forum for student expression. Our primary mission is to inform, represent, and engage the Fremont High School community — including students, families, faculty, and local residents — through accurate and ethical journalism.
All content is produced by student journalists. The opinions and viewpoints published in The Tiger Eye do not necessarily reflect those of the student body, faculty, administration, adviser, or Fremont Public Schools district.
Editorials and Opinion Content
Unsigned editorials represent the collective voice of The Tiger Eye editorial board and are developed through staff discussion and consensus. These editorials do not represent the views of the adviser or Fremont High School.
Opinion columns, reviews, and letters to the editor represent the views of individual authors and not necessarily those of the full staff, adviser, or school administration. Columnists are encouraged to express informed, respectful, and original perspectives.
While The Tiger Eye strives to maintain fairness and balance in reporting, opinion pieces are not required to present opposing views. However, we welcome diverse perspectives and will consider publishing alternative views submitted by members of the school community, provided they meet our editorial standards.
Letters to the Editor
We encourage thoughtful responses to our coverage and welcome letters to the editor. Letters may be edited for length, grammar, and clarity, but not for content. We reserve the right to reject submissions that contain libel, obscenity, hate speech, personal attacks, or violate school policies.
Letters should be emailed to: [email protected]. Please include your full name and affiliation with Fremont High School.
Advertising Policy – The Tiger Eye
The Tiger Eye accepts advertising that aligns with school policies and community standards. We do not accept advertisements for products or services that are illegal for minors or violate school rules.
All ads must be submitted with a signed contract outlining size, payment, content, and run dates. The editorial board reserves the right to reject any ad deemed inappropriate or offensive.
Personal or classified ads are not accepted. Advertisers who fail to meet payment obligations may have their ads suspended or canceled. If a published ad contains significant errors, a correction or discounted rerun may be offered.
Advertising content does not necessarily reflect the views of The Tiger Eye staff, editorial board, adviser, or Fremont High School.
Bylines, Copyright, and Ownership Policy
All articles, columns, photos, graphics, and multimedia published by The Tiger Eye are the original work of our student journalists and are protected by copyright.
All contributors are credited through bylines, with the exception of unsigned staff editorials, which reflect the collective voice of the editorial board.
Contributors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of their own work.
