For the first time in several years, the science department finally has all teaching positions filled. One of these positions is Nate Fields, a brand-new science teacher.
Fields, a UNK graduate, decided to work at FHS because of all the positive aspects he’d heard about the school and community.
Fields said his love for teaching was inspired by one of his former teachers.
“My high school history teacher made an impact on my life, and that made me want to make an impact on other students’ lives,” Fields said.
And according to some students, he has.
Freshman Olivia Johnson said he creates a “calm and positive learning environment” and enjoys spending time in his classroom.
Another student, freshman Addison Bussen, appreciates his ability to be relaxed and to understand the students.
“I can’t wait to spend the next four years in his TST,” Bussen said.
One of his coworkers, science teacher Marisol Fernandez, is grateful for his help in the science department.
“It’s actually very exciting to have a whole department now,” Fernandez said. “For a few years since COVID, there has been one position open.”
Fields has only taught here a couple of weeks, and he has already made an instrumental impact on those around him.
