The FHS Orchestra has introduced its new leadership team, signifying the start of a new era of success.
On Monday, Sept. 10, the FHS Orchestra’s new leadership team was announced.
This is the first leadership team for the orchestra, following several years of efforts to find the right structure.
“This structured program offers a more comprehensive approach,” Orchestra Director Chris Weddel said. “The initiative is set to strengthen our Orchestra by encouraging student ownership and responsibility.”
The leadership team consists of seven officers: President Silvia Woods, Vice President Mallory Fox, Secretary Ainsley Johnson, Crew Chief Makena Austin, Historian Dalton Kelberlau, and Librarians Genesis Hernandez and Riona Higashi.
Each officer has specific responsibilities designed to help the orchestra grow throughout the year.
This new leadership organization has excited Orchestra students. “I like the change in Orchestra,” Vice President Mallory Fox said. “It’s helped us a lot as an ensemble!”
Each day, the leadership team guides students through tuning, scales and fundamentals, gradually increasing their knowledge and skill.
Currently, the orchestra is preparing for its fall concert. The leadership team is also gearing up for the orchestra’s annual trip to the District Music Contest in the spring.
The fall orchestra concert will take place on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. for anyone wishing to attend.
Excited for the future, the leadership team and orchestra are working hard to ensure a successful year.
