I’ve always wondered where I’d be 10 or 20 years from now and I know I’m not the only one. It’s hard to picture something that far away, let alone a week from now.
Lately, it seems like each day just bleeds together and we’re stuck in this repetitive loop.
Wake up, go to school, get through the first half of the day, eat lunch, school ends, go to work (or sports), finish late, get home, eat dinner, shower, and finally work on hours of homework (or procrastinate- which I’m often caught red handed), then maybe, if you’re lucky, get a full five to six hour sleep – then bam – REPEAT.
Finding time to juggle all of the above on top of friendships, relationships, time for oneself and time with family can seem extremely demanding and will most definitely start to weigh on your shoulders.
Although we (students) tend to get stuck in this loop, we have to remember that high school is really only four years of our long story – maybe three if you work hard.
There is so much freedom and wild experiences that are going to happen once these years are over.
I find it amazing how some of your friends are going to college, the army, trade-schools, traveling the world, getting married and/or having kids. What I’m getting at is that everyone’s path is different and that’s what life’s about. Yours will never be like someone else’s. Why not make the best of it and make everything count?
There are too many people who have wasted their potential simply because of fear.
Yes, I understand that all we’ve known since the age of six is school. Yes, I understand that moving away from your parents and friends is hard. Yes, I understand that maybe moving is all you’ve wanted. You’re not alone!
You and I, along with so many other students – and even adults – don’t know what they’re doing, so on that note it’s not just you!
My advice to you is work hard, be motivated and PLAN PLAN PLAN!
Do not let the days just pass by and control your life. Set goals for yourself. Push yourself to become better at something every single day. Don’t get me wrong, there will be those hard days when you just feel like giving up and the world is against you, but just find that one thing you love and it’ll keep you on track. Become your own motivation.
You constantly hear people say that “life is too short” when in all honesty, it’s not. You have a long life ahead of you. Don’t waste your potential by sitting around after high school.
