Gianna is a 15-year-old sophomore at Fremont High School. She has been a member of the speech team since freshman year—though she originally joined to strengthen her college applications. She ended up staying because she discovered how much she enjoyed speaking and having an audience listen to her words. In her free time, Gianna loves crafting, especially making accessories like bracelets and headbands.

She is also an avid reader, with her favorite book being Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. At home, Gianna has two Maine Coons named Hank and Dave. Hank hides behind corners, bolts at the drop of a pen, and walks at a snail’s pace, while Dave leaps onto strangers and sits on counters while they’re in use. Despite their differences, the two cats often team up with Gianna for playful “raids” on craft stores. Gianna has a deep love for animals and enjoys learning about extinct species. After high school, she hopes to pursue a doctorate in zoology.
