Fremont High School will host its annual homecoming dance Sept. 27 with the theme “Garden Gala.” The theme will feature a setting of vibrant floral décor. Leading up to the dance, spirit week activities will aim to build anticipation among students and staff.
Spirit Week begins Sept. 22, with each day featuring a different way to express school spirit. Monday is Pajama Day, Tuesday is Twin Day, Wednesday is Wild West vs. West Coast, Thursday is Anything but a Backpack, and Friday is Neon by Grade. The homecoming game theme is Neon Glowstick.
Alongside Spirit Week, the Door Decorating Contest will be held from Sept. 16-23. During this time, TST classes can decorate their doors to be judged at the pep rally on Sept.26. Winners will receive a pizza party sponsored by Student Council.
Outside of the planned activities, many students have wondered how the StuCo decided on the “Garden Gala” and how this homecoming will differ from past years.
“Originally, we had four themes, then we voted; the themes being Rio, Garden Gala, A Night in Paris, and Hawaiian,” a StuCo member said. “We have never done a Garden Gala, so this is a brand new theme.”
Student Council sponsor Ashley Bignell said her biggest goal this year is increased participation.
“I would love to see more student involvement, like with the door decorating,” Bignell said.
Excitement surrounding the “Garden Gala” is already building. This year’s homecoming promises to be one to remember.
