Not long ago, I was scrolling on the popular social media app TikTok when I came across someone talking about a book called Tuesdays with Morrie. I had never heard of that book before, but it sounded interesting to me, so I decided to purchase it. From beginning to end, Tuesdays with Morrie is a book that provokes a wide range of emotions. It is a true story written by Mitch Albom, filled with beautiful life lessons that anyone could benefit from.
After graduation, Mitch promised his favorite professor, Morrie Schwartz, that he would stay in touch with him. However, as his career as a sports journalist bloomed, Mitch became too wrapped up in his own life to fulfill his promise. Sixteen years later, he came across a television program that was featuring Morrie. It turns out that Morrie had a terminal illness called ALS. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that causes the loss of voluntary muscle control, leading to paralysis.

Following Mitch’s discovery of Morrie being terminally ill, he decided to finally visit him. Soon, these visits became a weekly routine. Every Tuesday, Mitch arrived at Morrie’s house, where Morrie shared his wisdom and insight on various topics such as love, forgiveness, aging, emotion, and much more. As the meetings persisted, so did Morrie’s illness. His ability to function and move declined rapidly.
I don’t typically pick favorites, but if I had to choose a favorite book, it would without a doubt be Tuesdays with Morrie. It is only 192 pages long, but the number of lessons I learned while reading it is countless. From the moment I picked the book up, I was unable to put it down. Mitch Albom’s captivating story had me glued to the pages from the start.
