The Marias have been creating pop music since 2016. Their sound is soft and dreamy, but they also have some upbeat songs. On April 4, 2025, they released two new singles: “Back To Me” and “Nobody New.” Fans were thrilled to finally listen to the full versions, as only sneak peeks had been teased before.
“Back To Me” is about yearning for an old lover. Maria sings about how difficult it is for her to accept that the relationship is really over. If her ex were to come back, she admits she would run back without hesitation. She asks if the new girl is everything that he’d ever dreamed of—and says she can be that dream girl, too, if only he went back to her.
“Nobody New” is also about her missing an old lover. Maria sings about how there is no one new in her love life and that nobody can replace her old lover as he is one of a kind. She remembers crying together by the water when they said goodbye and pleads with God to help her find happiness without him.

I first heard The Marias in 2021 or 2022. It was their song “Cariño” from their Superclean, Vol. 2 album, which was released in 2018. After hearing that, I decided to take a look at all of their music. I enjoyed the sound of Maria’s voice and the band’s overall rhythm.
I’d like to believe that The Marias are hinting at a new album later this year. With two new singles out and a North American tour for their latest album, Submarine, starting in July, it feels like something big might be coming.
