New coaching staff brings success to Fremont volleyball
The challenge of a new coaching staff hasn’t stopped the Fremont volleyball team from finding success.
“I have never experienced coaching the way head coach Andrew Wehrli and assistant coach Sami Hanson have coached us this year,” senior Makayla Belmont said. “They coach us with high intensity and push us to be the best team we can be.”
The coaching staff has also been teaching the girls different techniques to help them win.
“My favorite part of the season has been learning new techniques when it comes to hitting and blocking,” senior Abby Hancock said. “I can tell that it really has made me a better player, and I’m really excited to incorporate the techniques into our games.”
These new techniques have led the Tigers to be 21-11 overall this year.
“We have made some big improvements already this season, and I am excited to see the direction we are headed in,” Belmont said. “I think the new coaching staff is taking us to where we want to be.”
The coaching staff may play a big role in the team’s success, but the way the players work together on the court is also a huge factor.
“We all connect so well, and it makes playing together so much more fun. I think we have a lot of great energy this year, and the overall atmosphere has been so light,” Belmont said. “We are able to interact with each other and know how to help someone get back into their zone of performance.”
Everyone working together to become better helps the team be successful.
“Our team is working hard every day to make sure we’re getting better, and I’m really excited for the rest of the games this season,” Hancock said.
